The Streng Escape Window

Apparently the design of the window located off one of the front bedrooms adjacent to the entry walkway served a purpose in safety.
Seeing as the front bedrooms didn't have any windows that one could escape from in the case of a fiery inferno (just clerestories) one would be able to break through the peculiar window to escape the flames, smoke or screaming kids.

This little tidbit comes to us from original owner, Don, of the Overbrook Streng neighborhood.

  1. I very much enjoyed looking at your photos. Some of them remind me of houses that were built here (Eugene, Oregon) in the '60s, so I guess the style is coming back around.

  2. Thank you for stopping by Snowbrush.
The style is very much popular these days. I guess people just can't get enough straight lines, honest surfaces and windows to the outside world. :)
